Approximately 220 research and development engineers are tasked with developing specific industry solutions and innovations, in close cooperation with customers. Klingelnberg, a technology leader in its industry, introduced its dry cutting process for spiral bevel gears in 1997, offers excellent gear measuring technology, and has implemented a closed-loop production method for bevel gears and cylindrical gears that is based on a software program developed in-house – a fully automated link between the production machines and the measuring technology. Machine setting values are automatically adjusted to the nominal data with such precision that deviations measure a mere two to three micrometers – a quantum leap in quality.
Klingelnberg’s corporate philosophy is to adapt perfectly to existing environments and ensure compatibility with the existing software and machine structure. Creating these interfaces and incorporating physical uncertainties such as hardening distortions into the systems were the hardest “nuts” for the comprehensive system suppliers to crack. For this achievement, the company received the “Industrie 4.0” award in the Integration Design & Production category on December 1, 2016. The trade journal Produktion and ROI Management Consulting AG grant this award to highly innovative Industry 4.0 solutions at the “Industrie 4.0” trade convention.
