Machine manufacturer Klingelnberg, the specialist in toothed gear and gearbox technology, has launched a new website. The website, www.klingelnberg.com, has received a complete “face lift,” both in terms of design and technology.
The main focus of the relaunch was to make the website more user-friendly and easier to navigate. In the age of smartphones, tablets, and desktop PCs, this meant, from a technical perspective, creating a website that automatically modifies the screen display and resolution to suit the different requirements of the end device. This responsive web design has eliminated the need for a separate version of the homepage for mobile devices. As for content, the user-friendly format is evident in the new user interface, which allows users to find the information they are looking for even more quickly. It does this by meeting users in their specific "homebase" – that is, whatever industry is relevant for them. Service and interaction offerings were also created, with a view to generating significant added value.
New layout, new services
Two approaches, one result: Some site visitors are looking for the machine builder’s business divisions, others for relevant solutions for their own industry. On Klingelnberg’s new website, both are possible – and yield the same result. Five main menus on the homepage lead to the submenus “Business Divisions,” “Industry Solutions,” “Service Feature,” “News,” and “Company”.
In the “Business Divisions” menu, Klingelnberg provides a comprehensive overview of the company’s core competencies with four product lines: Bevel Gear Technology, Cylindrical Gear Technology, Precision Measuring Centers, and Drive Technology. Essential information about each machine type, presented in an easy-to-read tab format, is also provided. Thus all the highlights of the selected machine and all key technical information is available at a glance, with no time-consuming scrolling required. The relevant product brochure can also be downloaded right from the tab. Another feature of the service package is that each product detail page includes a Sales contact, giving online users direct access to the channels of communication. As an added bonus, potential customers can also display three machines at the same time by selecting a comparison box. This way, they have a quick, comprehensive overview of the technical data.
They can also obtain access directly via the menu for the relevant industry solutions. Thus users have the option either to navigate to the specific application via the four product lines or to enter directly via their respective industry, accessing the desired machine type in this way. An automotive supplier, for instance, can immediately see every gear cutting machine and precision measuring center relevant for the automotive industry – and obtain access to the easy-to-navigate tabbed product presentations from there.
